On January 1, 2019 I was in Times Square for New Year’s Eve.
A once in a lifetime event and it was wonderful. Crazy yes, but awesome.
Typically, I choose to celebrate the occasion with a few friends, but in recent years it has been alone. One year I cried. One year I watched the Hangover and another year I went to a party with all strangers and pretended to have fun. That’s okay, it was all part of the growing.
I say this not to be sad or depressing, it was just reality.
But this January I decided to enter 2019 with a BANG. And 2019 turned out to be one of the best years of my life.
Was it luck? Effort? Because I changed my state? All of the above?
Perhaps a bit of everything. But I believe it was mostly effort, coupled with a keen desire to move forward. Travelling to New York was a great step.
New York is definitely a magical place for New Year’s Eve. It’s full of the glitz and glamour, but it’s also very human. The city and its people are now very welcoming, and they offer something very simple to everyone. You can go to a place called the Wishing Wall, post your wish or resolution on a simple post-it note and it becomes part of the confetti they drop on Times Square at midnight.
My resolution, which I will now share, was to finish my book. By putting it in writing and making a commitment, it happened.
Guess what? You can do this without going to New York! You can enter your wish, or your resolution online, and they all go into the confetti.

Why not start 2020 with a goal, a wish or a resolution, then make it hugely public by allowing it to be part of the confetti in Times Square?
It could be an incredible start to a great year.
